I don't know about prior, but when my girls got theirs pierced I put a few drops of melalueca and a few of lavender in a spray bottle with some water and sprayed that on their ears 2xs a day for about 3 weeks. Not only did it keep them from getting infected but they healed up in half the time they told me it would take. Good luck!
