Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Feeling Discouraged with Oils

I'm battling the worst head cold I've ever had right now myself.  I'm doing the same things with a few changes.  I second the comments that llv takes 3 mon for full benefit, also my dr said to take 100,000iu of vit d which I am, im also using melissa that is good.  One thing not mentioned here that I consider a huge benefit is using a nielmed sinus rinse.  You can get them at walgreens.  It is not saline spray it is nasal irrigation.  Ot helps rinse out the infection rather than all drainage, nose blowing, hacking etc  Some people do this with one drop of oil but I dont.  I am improving very quickly and I havr been sick with this horrible cold less than a week.  Also on guard cough drops are amazing.  Get well soon.  This headcold is awful

Thank you so much for all your advice!!  I did finally have to go into the doctor yesterday, as I had not eaten for almost a day and a half, due to not being able to even swallow!  It was so painful!  I ended up "just" having bronchitis, so he gave me some medicine to help with that, and i've seen much improvement already.  I am also continuing my oils protocols as well.  I have to laugh, though, as I was leaving the dr.'s office, I hadn't mentioned to him the entire time anything about using oils, until the very end I mentioned in passing that I had been drinking a lemon/peppermint/honey drink to soothe my throat, and he replied back with, "yeah, I can smell the doTERRA on you."  haha

I feel your pain and concern.  The 3 men in my house have had basically the same things, (ears, throat, mucus and sinus, cough, chest congestion, etc) and it has taken some considerable time to rid it.  I read elsewhere that this one was taking a minimum of 3 weeks, so that was my goal to see the road to recovery.  It took at least 3 weeks and then some.  We are still kicking the lingerers.

There are some really tough viruses going around this year.  They seem to be even more stubborn than years past.  We've been doing oils 3 years now, and I'm telling you, we've had to put up some huge fights to win over what is going around and it has taken TIME.  A word of precaution here- pneumonia has also been a big deal around my area.  Please consider getting complementary help if needed (doctor's are our friends and can help us determine how serious things are.  Then we can decide what to do about it, if what we are doing is effective enough fast enough, or if we need to add traditional medicine and help our bodies recover from that afterwards.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things.  When I don't see my regular oils doing what I expect in the time frame I expect, I switch it up a bit.  I had to switch to mostly mucus/anti-viral oils and get super consistent.  I can't stress how important it is to actually give yourself the time and space to heal. Eat nutritious. Sleep, if you can get it, is so important.  Also, I read that getting those mucus to break up may require a steam inhalation of the oils. ( I also read that an oil suppository works wonders for the lungs, but I haven't braved that yet.  Quite sure I could not pin down teenage boys to make that one happen.)  I'm attaching some of the things I did to switch it up a bit.  After using that protocol several times, I found I needed much more coconut, especially to the spine.  Easiest to do the coconut first, then the roller.  These are formulas I created and muscle tested for my own family, so be sure to switch it up or choose what feels right for you. If you feel drawn to an oil but don't know why, just use it.  Your body knows why.

Hang in there, follow your intuition, get additional help if needed, and don't give up.  You are giving your body the best things available to it to naturally recover and heal.

It took about a month to get rid of this nasty for each of my men.  Part of the biggest problem was that we didn't hit it hard enough, soon enough (they don't like to tell me when they are coming down with something so they wait too long.)  For my girls, they both caught the beginnings of it, but we pretty much knocked it out overnight before it could take flight.  I've added the new ON Guard plus for the boys, and that seems to be helping.  Also, regular (daily or every other day) applications to the spine help a lot.

I have been sick for the last 3 solid weeks, starting with a slight cough/cold (that lasted for about 4 days), then that developed into laryngitis (and lasted for another 4 days), then turned into just a non-productive cough--kind of mucous-y, rumbly cough, but never actually coughed anything up, but just a wheezy cough, that made it difficult to breathe, especially at night--one night i honestly thought about making a trip to the ER because I couldn't get a deep enough of a breath in to do me much good!  That has lasted for the past 10 days.  I have also woken up with a slight sore throat the last 5 days, but it has usually gone away by mid-morning.  Now the last 2 days, I have felt everything getting worse.  Yesterday, I started getting a fever, and my ears are plugged up; my throat is the worst sore throat that I have in the 3 years since having my tonsils removed, I have had a non-stop pounding head-ache, and I just feel icky.

Here's what I have been using with the oils:

I have been taking the LLV (about 1/2 dose) for the last 8 weeks, and bumped it up to the full dose about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

I have been using On Guard beadlets several times throughout the day through this whole ordeal.  I used Frankincense and On Guard on my neck for my Laryngitis.  Breathe and Cypress on my chest for my cough and wheezing.  Citrus Bliss to reduce the mucus.  I have been drinking a Lemon/Peppermint/Honey/Coconut Oil "tea" to help with my sore throat.  I have gargled Lemon Oil and On Guard for my throat.  I have applied topically On Guard and Lavender to my throat area.  I have also used a "flu bomb" capsule starting yesterday when my symptoms started to get worse (I have taken 3 of them over the coarse of the last 18 hours).  I have applied basil every couple of hours yesterday around my ear bone for my ears.  I'm sure I have used other oils/protocols, but I just can't think of them right off the bat...

Why am I not feeling any better?  Why does it seem that I'm getting worse?  I haven't felt any better/different taking the LLV, which is why I upped to the full dose, because I figured that I would give it a good month of the full dose to see how it has worked.  Are there other oils/protocols that I need to use?  I have had "infection-type" mucus off an on every few days, it seems to come and go, feeling me a bit encouraged, but then it always seems to take a turn for the worst after a few days, then get better, then get worse again.  :(  Any help/advice would be great, as I'm feeling quite discouraged with the use of the LLV and oils.  :(
