Repainting the closit floor would seal out the smell. As rental owners we had to do that more then once where a cat had sprayed.
In the mean time, I love how OnGuard consintrated cleaner (2 T) added to a water bottle cleans up messes and stains, I use it to mom my travertine floors. We did use purify in water. 1-2d per oz of water to create a spray so our dog when a puppy did not return to a spot. Carpet cleaning can also be helpful. Cats have pritty caustuc urine.
If it's gotten into the pad it generally gets into the subfloring and painting the sub flooring and chucking the pad & carpet is the cheepest way to get rid of the smell. A small piece of pad and carpet can often be procured for inexpensive, it's the getting it streches in place man hours that cost. Even on Crags List. I too would talk to the landlord. Cat pee in a room can actully bring on health problems.
