[Everything doTERRA] car accident, brain and neck injuries

Here is one a good friend sent... I'm going to post her whole post, will be happy to hear from anyone else that may have suggestions to pass on to her--- thank you for your input.
"Okay, this one's a doozy and I SO want to help this young woman!! She was vibrant, beautiful, full of hope, with an amazing future ahead of her. A car accident took that all away. :( This woman's sister deserves an AWARD with how much she is helping her little sister. She bought the family physician's kit and you will see later on (in this oh-so-long-post) what she is currently doing to help her sister.

Now, I am recommending she come to an AromaTouch Certification course and I know this will help her. But I would love some AromaTouch testimonials to give to her with others in this situation (I saw a video recently with Justin Harrison and a boy who was almost paralyzed - anyone know which one I'm talking about).

I told her I would ask for more help on this so here I am. Sorry it's so long. Thanks so much if you get the chance to take the time to read this.

Please read and offer any insight you can. Thanks so much in advance!!

"Here is the diagnosis at present: She has what is called a Diffused Axonal Brain Injury, which is basically a generic term for an unspecific brain injuries, but the gist of it is that her brain has been shaken up and has been bruised by hitting back and forth inside of her skull. When one looks at a scan of her brain, the normally clear lines that the brain matter should follow (usually it looks like a bunch of squiggles) are all unclear and everyone looks undifferentiated (grey) vs. having clear grey and white areas.

This has also resulted in a very minor case of hydrocephalus which is a buildup of brain fluid which is not reabsorbed back into the brain as much as it should; her ventricles are slightly bigger than normal, though there has been no change in the ventricle size in the last few months. Since it is not getting worse, she is not being treated for this; she could potentially have a shunt put in if it does get worse.

Also resulting from the brain injury is significant tone in her arms and legs and neck, dilated and fixed pupils which seem to have made very slight improvement since her admittance to hospital, and an inability to perform normal physical functions and communication. Unfortunately we have little information on which parts of her brain have been affected as she has no current way of communicating with us to tell us what's wrong. We observe that she exhibits more stress at times than others; in addition, she is currently on medication to lower her heart rate which has been higher than normal since the accident, and she is on a muscle relaxant with limited success; the heart rate reducer is called Propanylol and the muscle relaxant is called Baclofen. She was also on a drug used to relax her (I forget the name) which had a dulling effect on her brain and senses and which has severe withdrawal side effects resulting in depression and suicidal thoughts and such which we had her taken off as soon as we realized the detrimental effects. She is likely still experiencing some withdrawal symptoms from this; I believe she was taken off the drug approximately 1.5 - 2 months ago.

In addition, she has a neck injury to the soft tissues which hold her head up; at present, this is not a major issue as she is sedentary most of the day. There is a possibility that she might have to have her skull fused to her spine if she is unable to re-develop the muscles or if the soft tissues have been damaged beyond repair, but the extent of the injury is still unclear.

In order to make life easier for her and to allow her brain to focus on healing, she currently has a tracheotomy for breathing; however, it is generally plugged and she breathes through her nose and mouth for the most part.

Aside from these issues, her body is functioning normally. The problem areas are focused primarily on her head and neck."

"Here is what I currently do with her using the oils:

Generally I only see her in the evenings during the week and the day during the weekends so that is when I apply them.

Depending on what's going on with her that day, I will change what I do. I put the peppermint on the roof of her mouth regularly (nearly every day) because a) it helps her to practice opening her mouth and doing things with her tongue, and b) it helps with breath and such (she's not eating anything orally and mouth care isn't always their highest priority at the continuing care centre).

I put the Frankincense on the back of her neck whenever I feel as though she is a little bit more alert and could use some stimulation, so generally earlier in the evening or on the weekends.

I apply Lavender to the back of her neck or bottom of feet to calm her if she seems to be stressed out.

The Deep Blue rub has been extremely useful in relaxing her muscles; I massage it into her arms and her feet regularly, (daily I would say), both of which have significant tone. I also apply the rub and sometimes the deep blue oil to the back and side of her neck and shoulders as she is inclined to turn her head to the right all the time (part of the tone). We have noticed the most significant effects with these two products, primarily due to her difficulty in communicating; both of these increase her mobility and visually relax her arms and feet within I would say half an hour, and the effects last for a few hours; maybe 2-3. I would also say there have been small lasting improvements to both feet and arms.

I also apply the Breathe oil to her chest if she seems to be sniffling or breathing a bit more heavily than usual.

The other ones I haven't been using as regularly, though if you can suggest things I can do with them, that would be great.

The biggest issue I'm running into is she can pretty much use all of the oils at once, but I don't want to overwhelm her and everyone else with scent, so I try to rotate which ones I use and decide what is her most pressing need at the time."

If there's anything else anyone can offer on this, I would be so grateful. Thanks again!"
