[Everything doTERRA] Re: Mountain rose vs doTerra

I may be incorrect, but I do not believe that MR does the infrared testing for the presence of non-volatile adulterant oils that doTerra does.

I found Mountain Roses website, and they state that they are organic and use gas chromatography  However, the way they use the word "organic" it seems they are just using it as a catch phrase, if you will.  doTerra not only uses  gas chromatography but also mass spectrometry (correct me if i'm wrong anyone) to verify the pureness of the oils. If there are any impurities at all, then the batch is rejected.  So by default, doTerra oils are organic, purely organic in fact. But it seems redundant to state organic because it would just be re-stating "certified pure"  . Also if you compare what Mountain Roses states about their oils to what doTerra states in the product catalog, doTerra is more descriptive about how and why their oils are pure.  Mountain rose has a "aromatherapist" responsible for their essential oil protocols, and guess what? doTerra has doctors and scientists  working on our oils. I am not trying to speak ill of Mountain Rose, just comparing them to doTerra. Also, just one more thought.  If they diluted their oils with a carrier oil that was also "organic" then I guess they can still claim it as organic, but organic what?  It's true, their prices are cheaper, but if they can't confidently say it's ok to use them internally, then I say something's not right.

Hi all.

Someone in my group is concerned about doTerra oils not being organic. They sent the following:

decided to call Mountain Rose to ask them if you can use them for internal use since their bottles say you can use them for all uses. The rep said that they do not recommend anyone using essential oils internally unless you are under the care of someone who really knows how to use them. If you do choose to use the oils internally, Mountain Rose essential oils can be used that way, but they do not recommend it since they are so potent and can cause toxicity. Also, DoTerra and Young Living (the two brands that say you can use them internally) have been sued in the past by the federal government. So as far as I'm concerned, I should probably avoid using essential oils internally anyway, but if I do need to for making toothpaste, etc. then I just need to make sure it is diluted enough. For topical use, mountain rose oils seem just as strong as doTerra. I want to order the peppermint and try it for a headache and see if it takes it away right away like with doTerra. I guess what appeals to me the most about Mountain Rose essential oils is that it is certified organic, no third party so they get them directly from different parts of the world (just like doTerra) and they cost half the price.
