I am an RN in a neonatal intensive care unit.. and I use lavender on my newborn (at home) all the time. Along with digestzen, breathe, and whatever else I think he needs, I just follow my intuition. It would take a pretty strong drug to make a normal healthy baby's heart stop. I'd question what kind of a class your friend i taking. Just my opinion :)

Need some advice. I was talking oils the other day with a group of women and one of the women said that you can not use Lavender oil on a newborn because it would put their body in sympathetic mode and the babies heart would stop. I've never heard of such a thing, but apparently she learned it in a class at school. Anyone have some thoughts?????????--
