Prednisone is another of those pharmaceuticals that has both good and bad sides. My husband was on prednisone for 12 years to treat pulmonary fibrosis. It kept him alive but it also left him diabetic and on insulin during that time. This is where one has to take a long, hard look at quality of life and decide whether it is better to live with a handicap or to die.
If you can determine what is causing the inflammation and coughing, essential oils may help. I have no experience with this, so I will let someone more experienced comment on this.
Your mom needs your love and support. Blessings.

My mom has some atrial fibrillation for which she takes Metropolol(sp?).Of more concern to her is constant coughing from some lung stuff. The doctor wants to put her on Prednisone. She's not excited about the side effects. She is still on a low dose of LLV, and I'm trying to convince her to step it up, but she claims a hard time swallowing. I've watched her take her supplements, with the tiniest swig of liquid. It's sad, but sometimes it seems as though she's just waiting to die. I'd really like to help her improve her quality of life. Does anyone have any good suggestions for her?Thank you, dear doterra friends.Carolyn
