[Everything doTERRA] Re: Heart and lung issues in 80 year old

I'll be 78 next month.  I've had some experience with atrial fibrillation and believe me, it is not fun.  Afib is when an irregular heartbeat gets out of hand and beats very fast (sometimes up to 180 beats per minute) and very irregularly.  When this happens the risk of stroke from a clot is greatly increased.  The drugs like metoprolol that regulate the heart rhythm can be a blessing. I finally had a cardiac ablation, and this has stopped my arrythmias.  Ablation is where the specific area of the heart that is causing the problem is identified and then cauterized ("zapped") to destroy that tissue so it can't cause further problems. 

Prednisone is another of those pharmaceuticals that has both good and bad sides.  My husband was on prednisone for 12 years to treat pulmonary fibrosis.  It kept him alive but it also left him diabetic and on insulin during that time.  This is where one has to take a long, hard look at quality of life and decide whether it is better to live with a handicap or to die.

If you can determine what is causing the inflammation and coughing, essential oils may help.  I have no experience with this, so I will let someone more experienced comment on this.

Of more concern to her is constant coughing from some lung stuff.  The doctor wants to put her on Prednisone.  She's not excited about the side effects.   

She is still on a low dose of LLV, and I'm trying to convince her to step it up, but she claims a hard time swallowing.  I've watched her take her supplements, with the tiniest swig of liquid.   It's sad, but sometimes it seems as though she's just waiting to die.   I'd really like to help her improve her quality of life.  Does anyone have any good suggestions for her?
