Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: anaphylactic reaction

Thank you, Rita.  I'll see if she's interested in trying this.

Subject: [Everything doTERRA] Re: anaphylactic reaction

My daughter has issues with peppermint (she's extremely sensitive to the oil on her skin), but can take the Slim & Sassy in a capsule with no problem. Sensitivities to oils can be very sudden, but not the same (or as severe) as with synthetics. Usually, diluting with FCO will stop the reaction. An elderly friend of mine has the same sensitivity/allergy issues as your SIL, but can use most of the oils with no problems. She did have a reaction to frankincense during a class I was giving, but it stopped immediately with a tiny bit of melaleuca applied to her upper lip.
If your SIL is worried about reactions, see if she will agree to try one oil at a time, using this protocol: inhale melaleuca briefly from the bottle, then cap the bottle. If no reaction in 5 min, try applying a tiny bit on her inside forearm. If there's a reaction there, wipe on some FCO and then wipe off with absorbent cotton cloth. If no reaction, then wait a half hour and try lemon or lavender the same way. If there's a reaction to either, then stop. If not, try another oil. Keep challenging with one oil at at time and set aside any that cause a reaction. Start with the melaleuca because it can be used to stop reactions caused by other oils. There are oils that can help reduce sensitivity to allergens, and she should be tested for Candida infection. Getting rid of an overwhelming Candida load removes many sensitivities and reactions.
Hope this helps!

My sister-in-law has issues with strong smells, artificial food coloring, nuts, and other allergies, which can cause her to have an anaphylactic reaction (throat closes up).  Does anyone have any experience with the oils for this type reaction, esp. concerning the smells?  I would love to introduce her to the oils (precisely for those issues!), but she is afraid of them.
