Thanks everyone. Pat, I saw on a post that the FCO helps also and I am rotating out FCO, Meleluca and lemongrass each hour. I does sting a bit but luckily I have a high pain tolerance.

I would place Melissa on my thumb and press to the roof of my mouth, then apply fractionated coconut oil to the cold sore. Repeat every 2 hours all day.

I started getting a cold sore on my upper lip and so immediately started with Melissa, Frankincense and Melaluca.  It seemed to be working fine and then on day three I woke up with my upper lip swollen to three times what it should be.  By noon the swelling had gone down a lot and I didn't put anything on it til bedtime and then applied a little Frankincense.  Ugh, this morning it is huge again.  I am not going to apply or take oils internally until I get some direction.
