[Everything doTERRA] Re: Mange in Cat

THe problem is that no matter how small an amount you use you are slowly poisoning your cat's liver.  EOs can only be used as hydrodols, and only specific oils can be used this way...  The EOs collect in the liver bc cats do not have the appropriate enzymes  and physiology to get the poisons out of their systems so it builds up. Just bc one small diluted dose doesn't produce a huge immediate death does not make it safe.  Please do some more research go talk to a vetrinarian, google for heaven sake.  EOs are toxic to cats in all amounts, even air diffusion in a closed room is not recommended.... "but is possibly better tolerated" to quote a DVM familiar with EOs... I really wish doTerra would stop putting cats lives at risk and just say not to use them.

My young cat is smart enough to run like hell from all the oils - yes it makes me sad that she won't sleep with me when I have an oil on at night where she can really smell it (on my feet under covers she'll come up.

I learned this information when my older cat was poisoned by a "natural" flea remedy made of organic essential oils that was supposed to be labeled "FOR DOGS ONLY" and wasn't not only did the shop that sold it and the company that sold it both offer to pay my vet bills (nevermind the cost of the product) but the company called me back after talking to their veterinary advisory board and explained the issues and why my cat got so sick...

a drop at a time is a death one drop at a time.

they do put out what oils NOT to use on cats. and if you use oils, dilute heavily and use very small amounts. I will say that my two cats (who came from shelters) have herpes that occasionally flars up. The second it flares up I dab a very small amount of onguard on one paw. The flare up is gone within the day where before the oils, the kitties would suffer 10-14 days with each flare up.
Thank you for your concern.

Please do not use EOs on cats especially ingestion by cats.  Most oils are fatal to cats.  I know you will hear stories of ppl who successfully used this or that on their cat. But the fact remains the Dr. Nancy Brandt DVM who is specialist in this area explains at length about how cats can't process oils due to lack of appropriate enzymes and EOs can easily cause long term liver damage and even immediate liver failure (tea tree oil, the cedars) -- please doTerra put out a statement about NOT using EOs in cats.... put this to rest once and for all...

Hi. I have been caring (trying to live trap) a stray cat who I believe has mange. I read that it is caused by mites. It's also called scabies. I can not touch this cat, he will not let me. I am wanting to put oils in a tiny gelcap to treat it. Can I use ongaurd or does anyone have any other recommendation for me. I know I need to dilute and use small amount but wondering on how small of an amount. Please give me your thoughts. I can see this poor kitty is suffering by the way he looks at me.. Need to do something, while I am trying to catch him and get help. He is too smart to go in the live trap. :( THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Andrea Ibach
