Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: EO sensitivity/rash/burn on young child

I am one of those adults that reacts very sensitively to On Guard and other Hot oils, I actually gave myself something like a chemical burn when I decided to put Oregano neat on a pimple on my chin!!  I just swiped it on and went to bed to ignore the burning...stupid stupid me!! When I woke up it looked as if all the skin where the oil touched had been melted off, it was horrifying!  But I found that Frankincense has tissue repair properties and for 3 days I put on Frankincense and of course some cover-up LOL!  Well now you can't tell I had anything there at all.  So no scarring thankfully.  But ever since that incident, I recommend to everyone to ALWAYS dilute with FCO or any other safe Veg oil if they don't have FCO, and especially dilute on children.  I only regard lavender as safe neat on my own kids.  Other wise, better safe than sorry. We don't want anyone to have a bad experience with doTerra oils, even if it's out of ignorance or in my case foolishness ha!

I'd follow what Janice said. I consider Onguard a hot oil. The chart in the catalog, which I refer to often, lists it as 'sensitive' and many people have to dilute it topically. For a 3 year old almost everything is best on the bottom of their feet of the antiviral variety like Onguard and Oregano. I recommend diluting almost everything when they are that young and just doing a small amount like swiping your pinky across the bottle. The FCO (Fractionated coconut oil) and lavender should work. Many adults react similarly with Onguard, and sometimes melaleuca so watch that one too.

Use FCO over the area. Test the lavende on the inside of his elbow to
see if there is a reaction.  There are some "hot" oils in Og that may
have caused this. Not sure of your baby was outside in sunlight but
that can csuse skin sensitivities too.

Hi, everyone: I recently used On Guard (neat) on my 3-year-old's neck
-- a quick swip after putting on pajamas with feet (I didn't take the
time to undress him to put it on his feet). Well, the next morning,
his neck was very red and welted, as well as a spot on his face and
around his eye (where he may have wiped some, I don't know). It's been
3 days now, and it's still there, though a little less red. It does
not appear to be itchy or bothersome; it just looks terrible. I want
to put lavender on it, but I'm afraid to apply any more oils!
