[Everything doTERRA] Re: AC Separation

A good massage therapist would help! Sounds to me (a massage therapist) that your acromioclavicular joint has some issues. The acromion is part of your scapula and your clavicle is your "collar bone". There is an actual "joint" there with cartilage and ligaments that allows for movement. If it has separated for one reason or another, the muscles are involved also. If the joint is separated, my guess is that the muscles are lengthened, or stretched out too long, which may mean the other side is shortened. The problem may actually be on the opposite, or shortened side! You need to feel around for tenderness in these muscles. When you find tenderness, rub across the fibers of the muscle to relieve the pain. Only work an area for about a minute six times a day. The upper fibers of the pectoralis major attaches to the clavicle and people generally have tenderness there because we tend to slump forward with poor posture which also shortens this muscle. The deltoid muscle also attaches to the acromion and the clavicle. The massage therapist should address all the muscles involved with arm movement as well as some of the neck muscles. Its very helpful to work the opposite side first! Good luck!

After about three or four months of mild to moderate shoulder pain, I found out I have AC separation (Basically a separation between my clavicle and scapula) Very odd since I don't recall being injured. My doctor told me not to do certain exercises or movements so it can heal.  I've been using helichrysm, Deep Blue, and peppermint(on top) and a few various other oils and haven't felt any difference yet.

Anyone have experience with this?  Can the bones actually move back together?  I don't really understand the whole thing. He did tell me that if it doesn't get better in a month or so, I could get an MRI to see if there is damage to the  infraspinatus (muscle in rotator cuff)

I really don't even know if I'm saying these medical things right.  Thank God for Google..lol.
