First, since your friend is undergoing chemo I'd strongly recommend that she take the Life Long Vitality (LLV) supplements and take/use DDR Prime (either the gel caps or the oil applied to colon reflex points on the foot).
The first thing I'd try would be a drop of Frankincense on the pad of the thumb, then hold that to the roof of the mouth with your lips closed for 30 seconds (it looks like you're sucking your thumb). Do this as often as needed. This works like a charm for getting rid of my really bad headaches but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be just the thing for your friend.
Don't forget that [unrefined] coconut oil has a lot of beneficial properties so she could try "pulling" the oil in the morning before she brushes her teeth. This is also good for helping the body rid itself of toxins.
[Pulling oil - place about 1 teaspoon (or less) in your mouth, as the oil melts "pull" it around in your mouth, gently swishing for 20 minutes (I recommend at least 10 minutes) then spit it out into a disposable cup and put it in the trash so that you don't plug your drain. Rinse mouth, then brush teeth.)
Hopefully, there will be more suggestions.
