Re: [Everything doTERRA] Allergic reaction on lips

For the 2nd year in a row this has happened to me during December and January. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it. I hadn't done anything differently. My lips were red and sore, and the corners of my mouth were irritated. I have to be careful with lavender on my broken skin, because it can irritate me, so I didn't use it. I did try meleleuca. Peppermint burned like crazy. I ended up putting frankincense on them, alternated with helichrism, and then had to just let it run its course. FCO didn't even help. If anyone has any other insights, I'd love to hear them. My naturopath had no ideas. My lips finally cleared up last week, after about 9 weeks of this. It seems like it has to be some sort of allergy, but to what, I have no clue.

My lips were so painful, that I needed to put SOMETHING on them. I kept looking for a simple lip balm with nothing added to it. Then the balm hurt to put on, so I went to "slimey" type balms. As my lips began to heal, I was able to go back to the Burt's Bees balm, with no additives.

Good luck to your son.

My teenage son's lips have become inflamed and red and painful. He says he hasn't used anything new, except for eating Taco Bell. It's been a couple of days, and while the swelling has subsided, his lips are still red and have started to scab on the outer edges. I would appreciate any suggestions for what/how to use any particular oil.
