Re: [Everything doTERRA] skin care ?? and harmful chemicals ?

Hi April,

Would be it be possible for you to share links to some of the articles you have read about doTERRA's skincare ranges, etc? I would find them very interesting to read.

Having worked as a natural beauty therapist for some years, I have not come across anything in the doTERRA skincare or hair-care ranges that have caused me any alarm or made me think twice about using them - either on my myself, my family or with any clients if I picked up that side of my business again.

I haven't checked out their latest hair-care products but the Sanobella protecting shampoo (e.g.) has a range of ingredients that are used in place of parabens and sulfates (sulphates). Phenoxyethanol is an ingredient many companies are trying to move away from because it can cause skin irritation in some cases, as Pai products discovered: http://www.paiskincare.com/blog/2011/04/11/the-facts-about-phenoxyethanol-%E2%80%93-revisited/

Alas, it is very difficult to create a natural beauty product or body/haircare product with a guaranteed shelf-life that doesn't have some form of ingredient that COULD cause sensitivity. Even the purest of natural products can cause sensitivities (for example, I cannot use Jamaican black soap on my scalp or on my skin, because it brings me out in a painful rash, yet that is very mild and pure, mixed with cacao butter that I have no reaction to).

I would very much recommend anyone that has concerns about skincare ingredients to think about investing in Dying to be Beautiful by Peter Lamas (it's only a small notebook-size) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dying-Be-Beautiful-Peter-Lamas/dp/1932458042/  (approx. £4.95 in the UK - also available in the US)

This is also a very good website for info: http://safecosmetics.org

I guess, as with everything, there will always be naysayers and people determined to slate products that are either new to the market or they are unfamiliar with :)  The best way around this is to do our own reading and investigations, so we can make our choices based on our informed decisions.

I hope my thoughts may be of help to you, April.  With very best wishes,
Callie
