When my husband had surgery this spring and his surgical wound was about 1-5-2" long. All essential oils we used were applied topically AROUND the wound, not directly on it.

For pain: 1-2 drops of Wintergreen then layered 1-2 drops of White Fir over that as often as he needed. My husband is very responsive to the oils so each application lasted him about 5.5-6 hours!
To encourage and aid healing:
We layered the following oils - 1-2 drops of each - AROUND the wound TID (three times a day) the first week then backed off the frequency as the wound healed.
- On Guard - to fight any bacteria wanted to get in
- DDR Prime - to promote cellular health
- Frankincense - because it's my go-to oil
- Helichrysum - quickly takes care of any bruising, both external and internal
His wound healed quickly and the bruising disappeared within a few days so thereafter it was nice and pink.
