Re: [Everything doTERRA] Baby breaks out in a rash a day after using OnGuard on feet and Breathe on chest

There is an interesting article from Dr Pappas on his facebook page " essential oil university" that addresses the detox issue that makes a lot of sense to me  I would suggest reading this.  He states that " detox reaction is a response that the body undergoes when it has something TAKEN AWAY from it. In the case of using an essential oil we are ADDING something new to our body that the body has no prior experience with and any bad reaction could not logically be classified as a detox reaction."  Essential oils are very concentrated solutions of organic molecules and we should do a patch test first. I don't feel that we are taught to dilute the oils we are using enough. These oils are so concentrated I think they can be diluted way more than we are taught, not just for children but adults too.  I was told 1-100 dilution for children and 4-100 for adults.

I think there must be some confusion, if you re-read my post I was asking the original poster where she got her information and stated my opinion that I disagreed with her statement.
I have reviewed the sites shared and disagree with her statement, only in so far as it applies to doTERRA oils used appropriately. It may be accurate for other brands but I stopped researching other brands after I spent months researching several brands and deciding that doTERRA was the only one I felt comfortable using.

Ginny,

Where are you finding that breathe, eucalyptus and wintergreen are lethal to littles? I have checked all of my books, and the most they say is to dilute it..? I have used breathe diffused with a few littles who had upper resp. issues and it helped a lot, but I obviously don't want to do this if it could hurt them also. Please share your resources for this info. Thanks!

You are correct in that On Guard is hot and should be diluted. I am curious where you got the information for "AND WHY ARE THEY USING BREATHE ON A BABY????  Do not ever use eucalyptus or wintergreen on any child under 2 years of age. They can be LETHAL."
If you are referring to Reyes Syndrome, they do not know what causes Reyes Syndrome. It has been known to develop in children that have just had the chicken pox or serious cases of the flu. That aspirin caused/triggered it is speculated and there have been studies trying to replicate this without success. There was another study which suggested that Tylenol also had the same reaction in the 50s but the formula was adjusted and this discontinued. Yet another study examining survivors showed that all had metabolic disorders of some kind. Even if it were aspirin that triggered/caused it we do not know what chemical component it is. I would speculate that 10s of 1000s of people have used On Guard, Breathe, Deep Blue and a host of other oils on their infants without Reyes Syndrome developing. I strongly believe that if there were even one cause the adversaries of essential oil use would swoop down and try and eliminate our being about to use them.
Research can be done in many levels. If you look in the Modern Essentials 4th edition, all of the oils are safe to use topically when diluted.

PS The Abundant Health website referenced in another post is for another brand. What we can use with doTERRA other brands may not be able to use. [Before anyone panics, it isn't uncommon for users of other brands it see what we can do with doTERRA that they have been trained not to do with their brand. My intention is not to be negative about other brands, just pointing out they are different.]
