Dr. Robert Pappas, at the 2012 doTERRA Convention, taught a class titled Essential Oil Chemistry 101. In my notes I had this information, "the term essential oils goes back to alchemist, they believed in earth, fire, wind, and water and they started distilling of plants (quintessence) any thing that didn't dissolve in water was an oil. Although it is not a true oil it is the plant essence."
Please know that I was taking notes as fast as I could on a scientific subject. I hope this helps.

Hello all,
Recently I was in a discussion with a very experienced holistic spiritual healer and homeopath. He said that all oils are classified under 'fire'. Is this true or not and how should one respond?
Also they wanted to know the long term objective of using the oils bc they said in homeopathy the aim is long term and to try to get the body back to its normal functioning state.
Any comments?
