[Everything doTERRA] Re: Viking Disease

Janette,

I'm a trustee of the British Dupuytren's Society - http://dupuytrens-society.org.uk/

Do NOT use massage.  It's a total waste of time, effort and money as far as Dupuytren's is concerned. It won't do any harm, but it won't make the cords go away.  (In very rare cases, massage might be so vigorous as to snap a cord, but we're talking about extremely rare  and painful to boot)  Stretching won't help either.

vitamins and essential oils won't help either (as you've already found out).  The growth is under the skin and thus stuff applied to the surface won't help.

Depending on what country you live in, there are other options.  None of the options are perfect.  None of them are holistic (which is a shame as I wish there was something of that nature that worked).

Your friend's best bet (depending on where he lives) is Xiapex/Xiaflex or needle fasciotomy.  They're the best alternatives to surgery and give a quick result with few side effects.  Neither of them will cure the condition permanently - but there is no permanent cure.  It always comes back after a few years, but you get the use of your hands in the interim and can get repeat treatments.

The longer he leaves it, the more likely that surgery will be the only option.  Leave it too late and even surgery won't be able to do much.  Plus, surgery leaves scar tissue and has a long healing time.

Personally, I'd for for needle fasiectomy if avaialable (instant result, fast recover, but the downside is that the Dupuytren's will probably be back in two years).  Xiaflex would be my second option.  (result in two days, often side effects of pain and swelling for a week or two, but will last for upto four years)

There's more data on the web site.  (we're a patient organisation.  We don't sell any treatments and we don't get any money from governments or drug companies.

Regards,

Judith

I am trying to help someone with Viking Disease aka Dupuytren's Contracture.  He is loosing the use of both of his hands because of the contractures.  He has been on the LLV for 3 years and we have used MANY EO's without any results.  Looking for suggestions.  Thank You.
