First: both oils are completely safe for babies as long as the babies are not premature babies.
Second: yes, undiluted, they can cause skin irritation--even in adults. The rash will clear up on it's own in a couple of weeks if the oils were used undiluted.
Third: If they were diluted, and were diluted with anything other than doTerra's FCO, it could have caused clogged pores and rashiness. I used to use refined coconut oil (spectrum brand--which as many know is solid at room temperature) which would cause a localized rash similar to that on my kids. Especially using breathe because I applied it often to keep them comfortable. The rash has never caused discomfort of any sort in my kids. Simply mixing a drop or two of Lavender in withthe Breathe has worked well to keep rashes from occuring on the kiddos.
Fourth: The rash can be unrelated to the oil use. The pictures look to me like roseola.
Overall, the claims that doTerra's Breathe and OnGuard oils are unsafe for children are alarmist and categorically untrue. I would never recommend another brand, but doTerra's oils are safe.

Looking for some insight on this one. I gave some samples out to a friend and she used them on her 6-7 month old baby and the next day after using the breathe 1-2 drops on his chest, he broke out in a rash. She had used on guard on his feet for about a week prior and then stopped using it for 2 days before the rash appeared. The rash is on his belly, back, hands, feet and head. (See attached pictures). It is possible that it could be due to the oils, but it could be due to something else also. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks so much.--
