[Everything doTERRA] Re: 8 month old with repeated ear infections

What the others mothers have said here I feel is the best rout for ear infections.

Here is my story on the subject:

When my son was about 4, he was getting constant ear infections. I took him in to the Dr several times. We did several doses of antibiotics (I didn't know anything about EOs then. My son is now 13). It got to the point where they sent us to a ear nose and throat specialist. I knew, they were going to say we needed to do tubes. I did research on tubes. They do NOTHING to CURE the problem. All they are is a work around. AND they have to cut into the ear. Uhm, no one is going to cut into my son for a work around. (head bob & wagging the finger..nah uh).  I did more research on kids and ear infections. I found great info on Dr Andrew Weils site regarding this issue. He explained, that the skull up to about the age of 5, has the nasal and ear canal horizontal. As they grow  5 years and on, the ear to nose canal starts to go parallel  which will allow for drainage. Because of the horizontal pathway, fluid can build up. This fluid can be a home for excess bacteria, and thus create ear infections.
Dr Weil recommended doing an Allergy diet: removing the most common allergen foods: corn, citrus, wheat, dairy (all forms- includes casein and whey), soy. If you think about a side affect of eating allergy creating foods, most of the time, they create excess mucus in the body. So, this makes sense. Dr Weil  also recommended cranial manipulation.
I took this knowledge with me when we went to the Ears Nose & Throat specialist. She was all about cutting into my son, but when I mentioned taking a natural approach her comment "there is no proof of that". Yes, I remember her exact words. I told her I was going to try my approach first. Which I did. AND, we never went back to her.
I took my son off of the common allergens (dairy is the worst), my chiro did the adjustments (which my son LOVED. He called it 'popcorn'). When we went back to his Ped about a month or so later, his Dr was amazed at how healthy his ears looked. After that, any time any of us get the beginnings of an ear ache, we change what we are eating and go to the chiro.

I hope this helps.

My 8 mo old girl has had 4 ear infections(or maybe just the same one that's just sticking around) since December. She always seems to have a snotty nose and her cough finally went away after hanging around for 2 months. Last month we took her to the Dr. because she started having drainage and sent us home with antibiotics which seemed to help, but now it's back again.  We've tried just about everything we can think of... Basil, Lavender, Melaleuca, I've been resting her head on a warm rice bag before naps. Not really sure what to do now.  I don't want to put her on more antibiotics, but I just want her to get better and be able to sleep through the night.  Any suggestions are welcome...this mamma needs some sleep!  TIA
