most oils are ingestible.  The FDA even has a listing of the oils that are GRAS on their site.   doTERRA uses the highest quality oils so you wouldn't run the risk of this with doTERRA oils...but i wouldn't ingest any others...

This situation reminds me of what happened 10 years ago when I put a few drops of oregano oil in water to drink.
I will always remember the burning and how long it went on.
Since then I have learned that since the oils are fat soluble, one can remedy the situation by drinking milk, or eating something with fat- coconut oil would be great to use ( a coconut pull with a tablespoon of coconut oil, not the fractionated kind.

Have not had this problem, but I wonder if honey  would help heal the throat.  I buy my honey from a local farmer and use it with the  oils that I digest.
