Re: [Everything doTERRA] New narcolepsy diagnosis

Brittany, what wonderful counsel you've provided!

When you talked about the frequency and the no-no's of eating it made me think of the Wheat Belly way of eating. Eating grains (especially wheat) and processed sugars are known to induce lethargy and fatigue so eliminating them from your diet may prove to be of benefit in living with narcolepsy. If you try Wheat Belly (check out the blog at www.wheatbelly.com) it for a few weeks I'd love to hear how it worked for you.

I started eating the Wheat Belly way a few months ago because of inflammation and I'm so glad that I did! The benefits for me are multiple.

Wishing you the best,
Dee

I have narcolepsy. I experience the same symptoms along with mild cataplexy. The medicAtion does dimish appetite.

In addition to medications:

eat small meals every two hours. Large meals triggers my fatigue
Avoid food with additives and preservations. These food seem to make me more fatigued.
excerise a lot and it's ok to take naps ( up to 30 minutes At a time)
LLV
Mito2max
Slim and sassy ( I am thin but for some reason it boosts my energy briefly)
Inhale peppermint routinely
Strict bedtime routine
Move around as much as you can and engage in stimulating activities to help wand off sleep.
Sam-e also seem to help.

Most importantly, " train" your brain. For example, I make sure I wear my eye mask to make it completely dark for my naps. It helps me to be more sensitive to light and to give me a fighting change but I also have to take a nap when I have to by wearing the mask. It's no guarantee but it stacks things in your favor. It just helps me to fight the sleep spells briefly if necessary until I can take a nap. It's hard to explain.

It is a complete lifestyle change and management. It took me years to adapt after my diagnosis.

I also have narcolepsy, along with excessive fatigue from 3 conditions I have.  The new Mito2Max has made an incredible difference in me.  It took a couple of weeks of taking it along with the Daily Nutrient before I felt a difference, but WOW!  I would suggest both.  Also, using Balance in the feet in the morning and evening.

Greetings all!
My 17 year old daughter was diagnosed with narcolepsy three months ago. Fortunately, she doesn't experience catalepsy but does have excessive daytime sleepiness. Oral medications working well enough for the summer although she does have a diminished appetite.   After reviewing past posts, I'm a bit confused. I know that different oils work differently for different people.
What would be a good starting spot?
Peace and gratitude,
Julie
