[Everything doTERRA] Re: Interactions with medicines

It depends on the medications you are taking.  If you are taking a blood thinner, for example, you don't want to further thin your blood with an essential oil (peppermint).  You risk overdosing, so to speak, when using both a western medicine and a natural medicine for the same effect.  Same goes for hormones.  I have an Aunt on medication for hormones due to cancer; she shouldn't use essential oils that will alter her hormone levels (clary sage) unless she is working with her Dr. to make sure they're adjusting in the right way to continue to fight the cancer.

MOST oils when used aromatically or topically, diluted well, are not going to cause a problem for MOST people. Everyone has a different level of sensitivity to oils and medications, and should research and use caution if they are using both at the same time.  Though I have no problem with the safety of taking oils internally when called for and well diluted (as in the LLV or other supplements) I generally advise against taking oils internally unless other methods have been exhausted.  I use Tri-Ease and OnGuard+ regularly, but I am also not on any prescription medications.

If we can talk about replacing the need for prescription medications with essential oils, then we should assume they are strong enough to do the job of prescription medications - and you wouldn't take a double dose of prescribed medications without the advice of your Dr., now would you?  Essential oils are powerful!  We should respect their power and use them wisely.

Do the oils and or supplements cause interaction problems with medicines - I have just heard someone say they ended up in hospital because of the LLV and using oils.....Then I hear that there is no problem taking oils LLV and medications......HELP
