Absolutely, people can be sensitive to certain oils. My husband had to actually leave the building when he attended an oils meeting with me. One thing...we feel his Agent Orange has more cleansing than his body can take at one time when exposed to certain oils. Peppermint in particular raises his blood pressure and causes increased heart rate and breathing problems. I know it is real. One time he was sitting with his back to me working on his computer. He had no idea I was using oils. Then he turned around...whitish looking and said he suddenly could not breathe. His blood pressure went up really high. etc... After a while, we figured it out. No peppermint. We read the ingredients of all the oils. No Rosemary which is a mint. They are in so many oils because they are a stimulant.

I had a co-worker complain about the smell of the peppermint oil (I was using it for a headache) - they said that they had a severe hyper sensitivity to the smell and it caused them to have throat and breathing issues. This individual stated that gum and toothpaste etc doesn't bother them, but the smell of essential oil does (which confused me). I use it in my water daily, and now I'm afraid to do so in case they have a reaction (they sit approx 25 feet away) Has anyone else experienced complaints like this?
