Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: PB Assist vs. other brands of probiotics

Hi Pat,
What were the results from BioKult that you didn't care for?

No, you can take PB everyday as long as you want. It states on the bottle 3 x a day for 5 days. This is for a specific protocol in killing off candida. However if you want to take it daily (I do) then you can.

Note: Thanks for the comparison, it helps everyone make a uniform decision. I will say that I have tried the bioKult at the recommendation of a friend and did not like the results. I do much better with our PB.

I've been doing research comparing probiotic brands recently. Namely, New Chapter All Flora, Doterra's PB Assist, and BioKult. I have read from a source I trust that a good probiotic should contain as many different species of bacteria as possible, and that it should have at least 8 billion bacterial cells per GRAM (might require some math on your part).
New Chapter has 10 species of bacteria. It claims that two capsules contain 8 billion cells AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. Who knows how long they actually stay alive. Capsules are taken on an empty stomach. They have no time-release technology, so I'm sure it's highly possible that some of the beneficial bacteria gets killed by stomach acid, etc.  Cost: approx. $35 for 120 capsules.
PB Assist has 6 species of bacteria. One capsule contains 5 billion cells. They have the time-release technology which means there is a greater possibility that bacteria will go where it needs to go. Capsules are taken with food. Cost: approx. $34 for only 30 capsules. (that's $160 for 120 capsules!!)
BioKult contains 14 species of bacteria. One capsule has 2 billion cells. It has 10 billion per GRAM. BioKult claims that due to their technology, the bacteria are protected from the stomach acid and are able to colonize the full gastro-intestinal tract. Capsules are taken with food, and are also able to be pulled apart and emptied, which would benefit someone who struggles with swallowing pills. Cost: approx. $42 for 120 capsules.
My personal conclusion on these three brands:
New Chapter- GOOD
PB Assist - BETTER   (you are getting your "points" from DoTerra and staying loyal to your business)
BioKult - BEST    (MUCH more cost effective than PB Assist)

Hope this helps someone.

My new dr wants me to take a probiotic three times a day. Most things I have read about PB Assist state you should only take it 10 days a month. Is this correct? And what makes it so much better than another brand of probiotic? Thanks for your help!
