[Everything doTERRA] Ear Infection not responding to oil--ruptured ear drum!

My 3 year old daughter had a low grade fever--determined she had an ear infection which she did not complain about hardly at all. I applied basil and melaleuca to cotton ball in ear and also rubbed around ear a few times daily. Still her fever lingered on. I changed protocol to basil and purify. Also rubbed breathe, eucalyptus, around ear. She seemed to be doing better, I went out of town and she was staying with family who were doing protocol. That first night is when she finally complained of ear pain & it was 2am. At MD office next morning he said her eardrum had ruptured. Has anyone had a hard time treating ear infections? The last time she had an ear infection I did all above but symptoms lingered on for 4 days, then added in helichrysum and franki. Infection gone in 2 more days. It could have been a coincidence that it healed after the heli and franki. Do some people need heli and franki for ear infections? I have not heard of these talked about too much related to ear infections. I only used them as I knew the franki could help with pain/inflammation and is a good healer oil, and the heli is good for tissue repair. I am using melaleuca and heli around her ear now to heal the ear drum and she has no complaints, thank goodness. Had to resort to antibiotics as I did not know what else to do. Thoughts? Also wondering if she has something else going on that could be causing her not to respond well to the oils. ???
