@Detoxqueen – It was my qigong teacher who got me started with the oils and I'm still very much a student when it comes to using oils. I don't know of any acupuncture school where they teach about oils as part of the curriculum, but maybe there are some. There are a few acupuncture teachers/writers who have learned how to use essential oils within the framework of Chinese medical theory and teach other acupuncturists & herbalists. Among them are Dennis Willmont, who has written a very detailed technical book, and Jeffrey Yuen and Peter Holmes, both of whom teach EO classes for acupuncturists. Of more general interest are Gabriel Mojay's book Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit, which uses Chinese medicine theory as a framework. Kurt Schnaubelt's The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils, which goes into it a little.
It's interesting blending the very different eastern and western systems. In many cases the methods of use are similar to doTerra's recommendations, but using Chinese theory as a basis and specifying particular acupoints The reflexology areas are similar in both systems.
