Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: [everything doterra] hostess points (NOW: Business Training)

Gin,

Thank you SO much for your thoroughness. It really helps break it down for someone new like myself. I do just have one question that probably sounds rather stupid. What is the difference between Sponsor and Enroller? And what is the purpose in having the two titles?

Thank you to all that provide such a great wealth of both knowledge and opinion. Sadly, I think I learn more from this group than I do from my upline.

Thanks!!!
Lisa

I strongly suggest you read doTERRAs Policy Manual. It is available at
www.doterratools.com
People building a team with doTERRA do not get to 'keep' the enrollership
of people who come to events, classes or parties. We do not 'own' people.
The person who invited them to the event is the rightful enroller of that
person. If you have had a conversation with them prior to the event, class
or party and they have stated they do not want to build a business, they
do not want to have anyone under them and they say you can have the
enrollments then that is perfectly acceptable. Most of us would encourage
a reward to the hostess. However, the fact is they can enroll someone and
not even have an LRP and that is their right. Can you encourage them to
not do so? Absolutely but you cannot dictate. When we present at events
for others we are fulfilling our obligation of training and sharing, we
aren't entitled to anything.
I've heard all of the presentations and webinars about how you have to
have $150 LRP and different levels of commitment. Again this does not come
from doTERRA. I am not sure if it comes from one specific team or not but
I do know that a couple of years ago a new Diamond was doing it and got
their hands smacked by the company and they very publically no longer do
this.
If you need some non-ethical or non-policy rules why not to do this here
are some things I've seen first hand...
An Elite asked me for some help with her placements. We pulled up her
graphic tree and she wasn't very familiar with it so I went over how to
use it. When I hovered over someone on her front line then clicked on it
she saw who the enroller was and it wasn't her. It was her party, she
invited the person and it wasn't her enrollment. Then we did the same with
a bunch of her oldest IPCs and it was the same. Her upline took all the
enrollments. It caused a huge rift between the two of them and they were
very good friends. They are no longer good friends and there are serious
trust issues between them. The Elite had to ask for the
enrollments to be transferred when she went to Premier and the whole thing
really took a lot of the joy and motivation from her. She is now
qualifying at a much lower rank and is doing very little. If that hadn't
happened they would probably still be friends and she would probably be
Silver.
I have a friend on another team in another state that wanted to build
and had a party and her upline took all the enrollments and placed them
under her as sponsors. When she found out about it she talked to the
upline and got the same old standard speech about commitment and earning
the right to have them. She was so upset that she chose go inactive for 12
months so her could move under someone else whose philosophies were closer
to her own. The people placed under her were so horrified when they heard
they no longer order either. I suspect after 12 months they will move too.
Her family is moving to another state so the upline will never get to see
how much it cost her.
I know there has been discussion that corporate doesn't get involved in
these things but that isn't true. They do have the right to pull your
consultant status. I do know that the legal department has called people
and asked questions. I don't know anyone that has been expelled but I know
people have been. I also know of someone who have had their rank stripped
a level and people from their team removed. I believe at some point
corporate will decide that it is enough of a problem that they are going
to do something about it.
I will tell you that from the chat on this list and some of the
discussions at convention that people talk, people make judgements and you
can get a reputation really fast. It can be the nail in the coffin for
your business.
I have to admit there are times when I wished we had three types of
membership and to enroll someone you had to take an online class or
test.
