I am fighting a cold sore as well. Mine started the tingle 3.5 days ago, in the evening. I applied straight clove oil (I know it says to dilute but I didn't) several times before bed-just a swipe from the top of the bottle, not an actual drop. I woke up to them being scabbed over already. They didn't get bigger and didn't blister. Since then I've used OnGaurd and peppermint and what little Melissa I can scrape out of an empty bottle on the scabbed over sores. I try to apply one of the oils hourly. Peppermint feels the best. I did try helichrysum for pain, which burned a little at first but then I didn't have more pain for 12 hours. I also bought a no-crazy-chemicals-added Chapstick that I'll use for a week and then throw away to keep it from drying out so much it cracks and bleeds. I hope this helps!
