Re: [Everything doTERRA] I lost my milk--peppermint

I'm pretty confident the baby's need has not increased.  Before the peppermint incident, I was producing so much I had to pump to be comfortable after she finished eating every now and then.  If I tried to get her to eat more, she'd spit up/throw up.  In few min of pumping to be comfortable after she ate, I used to get 2-3 oz total.  The other night, she kept wanting to feed side after side which she doesn't normally do even when she cluster feeds.  (Normally she'll eat once an hour both sides for cluster feeding rather than continuously back and forth even right after she was born)  After she 'finished' I pumped and got only a 1-2mL total.

I'll try the things you suggested.  I just started using MotherLove More Milk Plus on the recommendation of my lactation consultant in addition to the fennel oil.  It has fenugreek and other things in it.  I'll add Basil and some of the techniques.

Stress probably had an enormous part to do with it.  This morning I tried to relax, called some good friends and watched some kid's movies while feeding her.  And tried not to stress/worry about it.  She fed back and forth on each side continuously for 4 hours.  Finally, I gave her some pumped milk from my fridge (while I pumped) and she has been satisfied for a little while.

Oddly enough, I also don't have as much of that "happy lovey" feeling I used to when feeding her. :(  Probably has something to do with prolactin or oxytocin.

Being a mommy cow is hard work! lol  I sure hope we get back on track soon.  Thanks so much!

Have you tried mother's milk tea and/or fenugreek? Both of those worked for me when my milk production was slowing.  Basil oil is supposed to help as well. Maybe try switching from fennel to basil.  Are you certain that your milk has decreased?  Or do you think maybe baby's need has increased?  Make sure you are getting plenty of fluids. You can't produce milk without fluids. One more thing. Are you super worried about your loss of milk supply?  If so, the cortisol produced from stress will inhibit letdown. Letdown is what has the hind milk. If you think you are only producing fore milk it may just be that you aren't letting down due to stress.
