I can only tell you about personal experiences we have had & the thing Dr. Lawton continuously says...she says "nature knows what to do w/nature &the oils are very intelligent" meaning our bodies know what to do w/the oils & once we use the oils they know where to go in our body to be most effective. I would venture to say that the methyl salicilate in aspirin is an isolated compound that has been isolated & extracted then replicated in a laboratory making it a chemical & not a naturally occuring pure compound as is in our doterra Wintergreen.
I know MANY ppl who have continued to take NSAIDs along w/using Deep Blue as well as Wintergreen...none of the ppl I know have had any adverse reactions w/meds& oils. Now what may happen is the oils could help the meds be more effective.
All of that to say I am no dr or scientist so either you will need to speak to one of these two professionals for clarification or make your own decision based on the experience of others. I would not tell you what you should or should not do...but I do hope you find an answer that will help you make an informed decision. Hope your husband gets some relief.
Oh 1 other thing just in case your hubby is willing to take oils internally there are 2 recipes for pain management listed on everythingessential.me under cancer protocol & I know many ppl who have used these recipes to control chronic pain even when lowering the # of drops of each oil. And another combo I know has worked for pain internally is 6 drops Lemongrass+ 6 drops Vetiver in veggie capsule as needed for pain:) Hope this encourages you!
