Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Dogs - Ear Yeast Infection Success

I think that by not changing her food to grain free you will continuously have this problem.  I have read that dogs & grains do not go together.  I would switch to the BARF diet.  I have my dogs on Great Life Dog Food, that is grain free.  Yes I have it shipped.

I think by the fact that you keep giving the dog grains you will have this problem with the dog.

I do not know why melaleuca is bad for dogs.  I use it on mine mixed with lavender for the ears.

I hope your poor dog gets better!

Blessings,
Carol

Our dog has another horrible problem with her ear.  She's had many infections in the past and I always used the recipe for Earache in the ME book which was melaleuca, lavender and Roman chamomile.  Now I'm afraid to use that because of the posts on melaleuca being unsafe.  I figured if it was in the book, it was OK.  We've tried basil for two days with no improvement at all and in the past the earache formula worked within a day.   I am going to try just lavender I guess and perhaps the vinegar/water solution.  How often do I use each of these safely on our dog and how much?  She is a sheltie/collie mix at about 45 lbs.  Her ear is crusty inside and really bothering her.  I would like to change her food, but I've not seen any grain free food where we live and we can't afford to ship in the really pricey stuff.  In the summer she also has allergies to something outdoors as she gets red & itchy all over.  The ear problem seems to come & go year round.
