I was talking to my brother and he reminded me that in one of our holistic classes, they said that if you cut onions and set them in the car that it absorbs smoke smell.  I had totally forgotten this, but I tried it AND IT WORKED!!.  I cut 2 onions, placed them on 2 paper plates, set one in the front and the other in the back.  When i opened the car doors, WOW,did it smell like onions, but it worked!! It only took less than a 1/2 hour with the windows cracked open to get rid of the onion smell.  

I think i will use the cotton square idea to get rid of any thing else that's in the van.. and it will smell nice and clean!! thanks for all of your suggestions!  doterra IPC's are great
