[Everything doTERRA] Re: Dog's and essentail oils?

No problems with our German Shepard using Lavender.  Used it on hr paw and her tummy.  Also, yesterday she had a lick of peppermint and acted like she got peanut butter on her tongue.  It was funny, but no ill effects.

Question regarding using the oils on animals? can it be harmful? I understand the oils are pure so using small amounts is criticial but can it be harmful to them? We have had some great expereinces using them on our animals when applied to their fur, verses the bottoms of their feet. Why is this?

My 85ib lab mix has had 2 really scary reactions to lavender and digest zen on his foot pads. The first time he ate 2 dozen cookies and wasnt feeling his best. I put a drop of digest zen with FCO on one paw and he went nuts. His leg starting twitching, he went outside to dig holes (which he never does) to lay down in a cool area. he will run into walls, doors, and the furniture. It is really scary! This will last for an hour. The second time he got stung by a bee so i put lavender on his paw again and same reaction.

I put lemongrass on his shoulder blades and he is fine with that, no reaction. Our cat got attacked and we used them on him and it seemed to make the infected area worse.

I just want to make sure it cannot hurt my animals.?
