[Everything doTERRA] Re: Child Won't Sleep

The child may be dealing with "mind chatter" issues as well - the brain just not being able to calm down and go to sleep. Vetiver is good for addressing mind chatter.

I'd try the Serenity first and if that doesn't work then I'd check into the "Peaceful Child" blend you can find here: http://everythingessential.me/adhd-attention-deficithyperactivity-disorder/

Either of these blends I'd apply to the bottom of the feet and all along the spine. If the child enjoys the scent you may also want to put just a bit on her wrists (rub it in good to prevent accidentally getting it in her eyes) so that she can smell it.  Do this about an hour before bedtime so that she can begin her wind-down. I'd also diffuse Serenity or Lavender in her bedroom. Another thought would be to make a Lavender/FCO (fractionated coconut oil) solution in a spray bottle and spray her pillow and the top portion of her sheets - it won't stain.

One thing I did for my grandson was make up a roller bottle just for him that he could apply himself, it gave him a sense of control.  For him it was 3-5 drops of lavender in a 5ml roller bottle topped off with FCO and we called it his Magic Potion. This mom could use whatever oil she wanted. Balance Blend may be a good one to use for a Magic Potion.

Hope that she quickly discovers what works for her daughter.

 Hello,

I have been contacted by a family member that has 3 children.  The middle child is 3 and the youngest is 3 months old.  The middle child is the one they have been having a constant battle every night putting to bed.  Sadly, the mom has to lay down with her and tell her a story.  They start this routine at 7:30 at night and the child rarely falls asleep until 9:30 or 10 p.m.  With a nursing baby, the mom is getting very little sleep.

She reached out to me this morning in desperation asking me what she could use for EOs to help get the 3 year old to sleep at night.  From what I've read on everything essential, lemon, lavender, and FCO foot rub at night would be helpful.  How about diffusing?  Perhaps Serenity?  As this child is under the age of 6, would I use the ratio of 1-3 drops of oil to 1 tablespoon of FCO?  Could she also rub this same blend on the child's spine first and then the feet?

Any other suggestions?

Thank you so much for your help!
