I've been on coumadin (for a valve replacement) since 1998. You can
have vitamin k as long as you eat a fairly consistent amount of foods
containing it every week. Then the Dr. can adjust the dose of coumadin
to fit your diet. Some Dr's try to make you adjust your diet to your
meds.
Since the LLV does contain Vit. K they would need to let their Dr.
know they are taking the LLV and get their INR test weekly for a
couple/few weeks to adjust their coumadin dose accordingly.
A common misconception of the INR test is that is it is a blood
coagulation test, but it isn't. It only measures the amount of
coumadin in the blood. Most oils will have no affect on your INR, but
some may be thinning the blood. So other tests may be required if
taking large doses of oils that may thin the blood. It depends on why
they are on coumadin to begin with.
I'll let others more experienced guide you on what oils are safe to
use.
