I have children that are type 1 diabetic, and I have done alot of research on this subject. There are also many different opinions on how to treat diabetes with oils, and you will find some really good info on how to treat diabetes with oils in this group. My personal opinion and recommendation is to work closely with your diabetic doctor as you explore the idea of using oils to help with diabetes. With a young child like that, I would think you would not want to take them totally off of insulin. You may be able to stabilize the blood sugars with oils, but I just don't know if there has been enough research on this topic to really know the best way to treat diabetics with oils; especially, type 1. I guess it just depends on what the goal is. Even though I love oils, I have been very careful and cautious about treating my children's Type 1 diabetes with oils. Their regimin is hard enough to maintain, let alone, add something else to it. Good luck.
