[Everything doTERRA] Suggestions for "severe infection in foot" ...

A mom of a friend has a "severe infection in her foot." That's all I know. 
They will be driving 14 hours from New Hampshire to Michigan for Thanksgiving to visit.
In the meantime, any simple suggestions that they might suggest she could do to help alleviate? 
1 or 2 drops melaleuca with a carrier oil applied twice per day?
