Yes you can break it open but the way these are made, if you do break them open then you won't get the time release benefit. You want to get them in the lower gut and the time release does that.

I was wondering if it would be safe to break open the PB Assist and mix it with his food? If not or if you know of an excellent high quality children chewable probiotic for kids could you please list it here? We already use certain foods to help with his probiotics but feel his body needs more. Thank you!
