[Everything doTERRA] Re: rhinitis medicamentosa (used too much nose spray)

Oh BOY!  Me and him both.  I have gotten addicted to Afrin several times over the years but no one really gave me the details or what to do other than "cold turkey".  Several years ago I was in the hospital for 8 days with severe pneumonia.  I begged for Afrin (smile...sigh).  the doctors were kind but explained things to me.  They said "cold turkey" I could solve it in 2 or 3 days or use "a little" of it and drag it out for a month.  In its place, I was more or less forced to use Saline Solution spray.  I used it constantly for several days thinking it was doing little good and feeling miserable and in trouble with pneumonia.  then the light at the end of the tunnel was there and it began to clear up.  The Saline Solution really was the answer.  Now I have a bottle by my computer, by the tv, and by my bed....oh...and a bottle in the car.  I don't need them that much ... LOL ...just making sure I have it.  Back to the oils...try peppermint.  I can not use it around my husband. It bothers his blood pressure.  But it works.  Diffuse it or inhale directly from the bottle.  That is what I do so the aroma does not go out into the air as much when my husband is around.  Use the new Cardamon which is also found in the new Breathe.  Use the Breathe lasengers  (drats...can't spell it...) I was using Melaleuca  across my nose and under my nose at night but it started irritating the skin so I am going to make a mixture of the new Breathe and Melaleuca with coconut oil and see how that works. Also, the best oil for regular use for me is the TriEase.  Much less problem with sinuses.

Hello All! I've searched the internet high and low and can't find a solution for what is apparently called rhinitis medicamentosa. Basically what that means is hubby used too much nose spray (he realizes now that is a no-no) and now can get no relief without more and more frequent doses of it. He's realized he needs to just stop using the nose spray, but is really suffering with a super congested nose. He's tried Breath, tried a Neti-pot with 2 drops each lavender and frankincense, other oils like white fir and peppermint and a simple saline solution spray. Does anybody have any experience with this and what oils or even other home remedies helped? Since we're still fairly new to oils I don't have eucalyptus yet.
Thanks in advance for any tips anyone can offer.
