My understanding of helichrysum is that it works as a nerve repair. My husband deeply sliced his thumb, including his nerve. I put helichrysum on with every bandage change and now he only has pain if he directly puts pressure on his scar spot. His thumb has healed so well that he sometimes forgets which hand it was on!
Same thing with birthing and my perineum. I've used helichrysum to help pull back the tissue to it's more supple self. My skin used to be super fragile, and the wrong pressure would cause it to split and bleed. Helichrysum and Immortelle have gone far to bring more balance in my skin, and my husband isn't pouting so much. ;)
Which brings to the point of hearing loss. To quote, "Attached to nerve cells in the cochlea are thousands of tiny hairs that help translate sound vibrations into electrical signals that are transmitted to your brain. The vibrations of different sounds affect these tiny hairs in different ways, causing the nerve cells to send different signals to your brain." In my own personal case, my tiny hairs have collapsed and are unable to pick up normal hearing levels. By using helichrysum, I can help make those hairs a little more sensitive, picking up sounds a bit easier (while wearing my hearing aids). I wouldn't say the VOLUME of my hearing has improved, but I've been able to pick up softer sounds that I wasn't catching before. Like when my son would nap, I wouldn't hear his whimpers and counted on my husband to notify me when he awoke. But about a week after I started using helichrsysum, I noticed I was catching the whimpers before my husband would (I was working about 5 feet closer to him than my husband).
I'm not going to claim that helichrysum will restore hearing. But it can help the ears be a little more sensitive to sound, help differentiate things more easily.
