Did her daughter pass the infant hearing test at birth? If so, she might want to consider the cause from vaccines. That's what I believe happened to me, that I was born hearing, but lost it after receiving shots. It did take my parents a lot longer to discover the problem, since they thought I had passed the hearing test.
Anyhow, I'm perfectly fine with using helichrysum on a young baby. I had it around my perineum as I was giving birth, so my babies were literally born into doTERRA oils! Less and more frequently would be better for the ears. I was noticing an increase in my hearing sensitivity just from once a day of touching the bottle top and tipping it over - not even a drop! For this baby, I would probably do a bottle top touch twice a day in a big U shape around the bottom of the ears.
