What I think Id try is removing the tape, then adding more oils to see if it lessened the bond between the gauss and the glue. I'm guessing it's just the 1st layer of the gauss stuck in the glue. I can see that happening, if the oils started to effect the top layer of glue and made them sticky but then the glue dried back out it could now have a bit of gauss imbedded in it. Another option might be to cut off as much of the gauss as you can and leave the rest tell you can get it to release.
I've never heard of anyone putting gauss over a glued wound. Did you just do that or was that recommended to you? It's closed, what would be the point?
Of course follow your docs advise. Just throwing out some ideas.
