[Everything doTERRA] Nerve pain from a virus

I have a friend who is having some bad neck pain that extends down her arms to the point that she can't move them. She has had MRI's X-Rays everything and her doctor tells her it's a virus that attacked the nerves surrounding her cervical vertebrae. She was out of work for a month and on pain killers, anti inflammatories and antibiotics...which doesn't make sense if it truly is a virus. She started to get better over the last two months but the pain has started coming back so she is back on all of the medication just stronger. Her doctor has told her that if it doesn't get better in the next month, there isn't anything else he can do for her and he will have to send her to a neurologist. My question is, what oil/oils would help her and what method? Topical, oral, diffuse?
