Test the melaleuca neat on a small area of your child's arm to be sure it
doesn't burn to see if you need to dilute it or not. I applied it neat to
the affected area every morning and every night. After a week, I saw the
dark patches lighten considerably. After a month, they were virtually
invisible. I had itching with mine which went away after about 3 days. I
use it once a week to keep it under control. I went completely vegan for
six months before discovering doTERRA, but I still had the tinea versicolor.
My 16 year-old daughter has it, too, and we're still trying to find the
right oil for her. The melaleuca isn't working as well on her skin. It gets
lighter but doesn't disappear.

My doctor told me tinea versicolor lays dormant in my skin and will never go
away. There is no "cause" and so could not be prevented. Once it looked
like it cleared up, I stopped using my oil. It came back within a week.

With research now showing the MMR immunization has caused autism in some
children, I wonder if any of the immunizations I received caused the tinea
versicolor or if I was simply born with it.

I just found out that my 3 year old has tinea versicolor (and not a
reaction/side affect from eczema, like I had thought). You said you use the
melaleuca neat to treat it. Do you apply it on the affected area directly?
My son has it all over his back, stomach,and parts of his arms and face -
would I want to dilute it with coconut oil just to make it go further,
easier? Also, how often do I need to apply it, and for what length of time?
I heard that it will probably take a few months for the pigment to come
back, so how will I know that its gone? What causes it (I know its a
yeast), and how can it be prevented? Sorry for so many questions...your
post came at an ideal time for me, and I'm sorry I am unable to answer your
original question, but thanks for any advice you may have!
