There are a number if brands, I believe all made from porcine thyroid, so it's much easier for our bodies to recognize and use. For complete hormone, Armour, NaturThroid, and WesThroid are ones I've heard of. For T4 only, I've heard of Tirosint (it's 4 ingredients, 3 of which can be found in any kitchen...).

Stop The Thyroid Madness (book and website) is a great resource, there's also a yahoo group with tons of info, I believe I found the latter via the former. There are SO MANY possible causes of hypothyroidism, it's not always just the gland not producing. Also look up Chris Kresser, his website has good info, too.

The cleanse for parasite could be accomplished by doing a 3 day fruit cleanse, this is pretty dramatic but seems to work well.
