[Everything doTERRA] Intense swelling in foot and ankle after Euflexxa injections into knee

My father has had 2 prior knee surgeries on each of his knees over the course of 40 years, resulting from injuries that blew out the meniscus.  The doctors say there is no cartilage or meniscus left, only bone on bone. They did the last surgery on his left knee in February 2013. They "cleaned up" the gout and arthritis and "smoothed out", the unevenness to try to help relieve his pain. His pain was not relieved, so beginning in May they began a 3 part series of injections of Euflexxa ( a synthetic ) to stop the pain and create a cushion between the bones. This also has not stopped the pain and has ushered in an entire new set of problems. He has had undoing swelling in his foot and ankle. The doctor has done an MRI, they have run tests to rule out blot clots. Basically they can find no reason this is happening. My opinion is his body is reacting to the toxins that were injected into his knee. He is willing to begin oils and treatment through a natural approach vs medical. Has anyone had any experience and successes with this? Thank you
