I use the Citrus Oils all year. I never stop putting them in my water and of course taking them internally does not bother them when in the sun. I can’t imagine that
you could use enough lemon with the geranium on his scalp to cause a problem, his hair would protect the scalp.
I would simply be cautious about rubbing the citrus oils directly on the skin and then going outside.

We use lemon oil in our son's water and use lemon/geranium on his scalp.
