Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I think you are right on with your interpretation. I do think she just found out about this diagnosis. From what I've seen of the data sites you sited there is no surgery recommended so I wonder what her doctors must be referring to.
She has had one problem or another with this foot since I've known her, over a year now. She works at the nursing home where my MIL lives and she is also raising her grandson. We live in an economically depressed area so I'm pretty sure she can't afford to take off work and I don't think the insurance offered is that good.
My new doTERRA pal, Carolyn A., has suggested birch or wintergreen, to help heal bone and also helichrysm and deep blue for pain at night. Then helichrysm, oregano, Balance in the AM and deep blue for the pain. Since she's recommending oregano I presume that they are all applied to the bottom of both feet. Would you have anything to add or change?
Please do keep me/us informed as to your husbands experience on this issue especially.
